Oculus VR Demo Offers First-Hand Experience in Airplane Safety
Ten minutes of virtual terror is a small price to pay for higher retention of safety procedures during an airplane emergency water landing – at least, that’s what the folks researching with Oculus believe. Their new VR simulation depicts the procedure for evacuating an airplane after just such an event, and their research shows that the VR experience stuck with users longer than those who learned via pamphlet. Passengers can view the demo using Oculus Rift eyewear anytime from home – which is good, since the last place you want to be “scared safe” is while awaiting takeoff.
