From pushing the creation of more powerful computer systems, and bringing prices down on more advanced everyday models, to inspiring educational and training methodologies, we have gaming to thank for a lot. Department of Education Looks to Gaming, AR and VR to Teach Academic Skills

The Department of Education is calling on the VR, gaming and education tech communities to contribute to the EdSim Challenge. The contest runs through January 17, and seeks “virtual and augmented reality-based educational experiences that teach academic and technical skills” to prepare students for the modern workforce. They hope for proof-of-concept, educational 3D simulations and multiplayer video games that are easy to use, and as engaging as the Internet. Five finalists will win $50,000 and the grand prize winner will receive $430,000.
