VR Training Gets Its Sea Legs
A new training program being developed will help teach workers how to stay safe on an off-shore oil rig. Programmers are creating VR software where workers will be able to run through many of the jobs they might be tasked with on a rig using a VR headset and a console controller in a “Call of Duty” type of virtual environment. Not only is it more cost effective to train this way, it will certainly enhance worker (and rig) safety.


Samsung’s Gear VR Almost Strikes Virtual Reality Gold

Gear VR is Samsung’s new headset, powered by Oculus technology, which takes the processing power of the Galaxy 4 smartphone and turns it into a VR display. While it may not be that final step in attaining true VR nirvana, Gear VR ticks all the right boxes and is a solid evolutionary leap in the right direction.
