3D Interactive Tech Talk – Space Station Simulation, QR Codes for Servicing

Welcome to our recurring post, 3D Interactive Tech Talk, highlighting how interactive technology is being used right now and where it’s headed.

VR Tech Simulating International Space Station
Anybody who doesn’t think NASA is one of the coolest places in the world obviously has never been inside the VR simulator at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). At the JSC, NASA scientists are sorting out the intricacies of the tools and techniques needed aboard the International Space Station (ISS). VR lets techs transcend the limitations of the huge neutral buoyancy lab, and practice processes spanning ALL areas of the ISS.

Back from the Beyond: It’s the QR Code

About five years ago, many thought QR codes were going to revolutionize information sharing. Just wave your smartphone at the little square squiggle and instantly your phone would link you up with a website. It hasn’t quite lived up to expectations – till now. A mining company in Canada may have just brought QR codes out of their slow decline. Using QR codes and a tablet, techs can call up every relevant piece of data available on the equipment they’re working on, including safety concerns.
