Virtual task trainers allow students to develop critical analytical skills within an anytime, anyplace training simulation. This video was produced as part of an entire virtual training solution for a defense contractor. When students launch the training simulation, they are presented with a scenario where they must use analytical skills to diagnose errors within a radar system and identify the correct course of action for repair. The client diagnosed frequent error codes and created this scenario to teach the technicians the skills that they needed to properly conduct operations and maintenance within the field. Virtual task training can serve as an effective complement to traditional hands-on task training:
- Deliver simulation training anytime, anywhere, on any device;
- Provide operation and maintenance training either in the schoolhouse or the field;
- Limit the need to dedicate expensive equipment for training;
- Reduce the number of dedicated instructors – keep the most skilled individuals in the field; and
- Streamline training-related travel costs.
As a result of this virtual task training, learners will be able to more rapidly diagnose errors. That means that radar units in the field will be returned to service more quickly.
